Opportunities to study with NCIRS

NCIRS brings together staff with a breadth of research expertise in the areas of vaccines and vaccine preventable diseases. We offer a supportive research environment for both postgraduate students and professional trainees to complete research projects in a range of areas, including:

  • surveillance and epidemiology of vaccine preventable diseases
  • disease and economic mathematical modelling
  • evidence-based immunisation policy
  • vaccine safety
  • immunisation program evaluation
  • attitudes to vaccination and vaccine preventable diseases
  • vaccination of vulnerable groups such as refugees and the elderly

Research projects and supervisors

The research projects available at NCIRS depend on the supervisor and student areas of interest and expertise and on organisation priorities. We accept students completing various academic and professional training programs, including:

  • PhD thesis projects
  • Masters thesis projects
  • Masters of Applied Epidemiology (MAE)
  • Public Health Officer (PHO) training scheme

Other short-term projects such as summer scholar projects may also be considered.
